Dan Savage Distinguished Lecture
We attended the Distinguished Lecture of Dan Savage, author of "Savage Love" in The Onion. After his hilarious lecture, we were then invited to an exclusive reception where we met and talked to Mr. Savage!

2006 Day of Silence
The Day of Silence was a huge success in 2006. We sold "gay? fine by me" t-shirts in many colors, bringing brightness and visibility to Madison. We also had marble painting and food on Library Mall.

Drag Show with TPS 2006
A few Allies organized a team to compete in the Drag Show at the last TPS dance of the semester. The act was a number from the movie Hedwig and the Angry Inch and the Allies won the "Most Believable" Award!Day of Silence 2007
Once again, Wisconsin high school students and the Gay Straight Alliance for Safe Schools helped make the Day of Silence a hit. Governor Jim Doyle officially delcared Wednesday April 18th as the Day of Silence in Wisconsin! The t-shirts for 2007 were black or white with the word "WISCONSIN" in rainbow lettering across the front.

Memorial Union Bash 2007
We partied in the LGBT Campus Center with TPS and the Campus Center staff to welcome new (and old) UW-Madison students. We made a hoppin' Gay Wheel of Fortune game. Congratulations to all of the winners, especially those who won the Rainbow Wisconsin T-shirts!Coming Out Week 2007
We attended Seven Straight Nights for Equal Rights as a part of National Coming Out Week. The event was organized by Justin Hager of Soulforce. After the rally at the Capitol, the attendees met at the First United Methodist Church and socialized, played some games, and put together a video for the "Silent T" campaign. Afterwards, we went to the end of State Street and held a Candlelight Vigil.Drag Show with TPS 2007
We participated in another Drag Show at the Winter TPS Dance. Amanda sang "Santa Baby" and the rest of us danced in elf costumes. Oh, and Santa (played by Sarah) made a special appearance!Day of Silence 2008
This Day of Silence was held in memory of Lawrence King, a teenager murdered two months earlier in a hate crime for his gender expression and sexual orientation. We got stormed out on the Day of Silence, so we ended up having the rally in the LGBT Campus Center and cancelling the march to the Capitol. In the Campus Center, a large group of us had a heartfelt discussion of how the day went and what being an ally means. The next week, we broke Homophobia/Silence piņatas on Library Mall. The t-shirts for the year said "Acceptance" on the front and "BAM! LGBT Ally" on the back and came in every color of the rainbow. We made a YouTube video asking Ellen Degeneres to come to the Day of Silence. Unfortunately, she did not show, but there's hope for next year!
